DC Launch Lab

Cohort 1 · Ages 9–13

THE PRODUCT LAB

A hands-on product-creation track: scholars identified a problem, built and prototyped a product, and pitched it to real judges — layered with the DOES-sponsored CRESP curriculum.

How the six weeks were built

From problem to pitch

  1. Weeks 1–2

    Find the problem

Scholars observed their own neighborhoods and classrooms to name a problem worth solving.

  2. Weeks 3–4

    Build the prototype

Teams sketched, built, and rebuilt physical and digital prototypes, testing each version with peers.

  3. Week 5

    Sharpen the pitch

Scholars practiced telling the story of their product — the problem, the solution, and why it matters.

  4. Week 6

    Pitch to judges

Every scholar presented an original product to a panel of judges at the Final Showcase.
